Finally figured out how to add a picture to a blog. Wasn't that difficult really but I was going about it the wrong way.

Anyway, the plans have been moving along steadily. Claire and I handed in our notice on 14Feb07. I affectionally refer to it as "The St. Valentines Day Massacre". We paid off the outstanding balance on out flight to S. America and onwards to NZ. So now it's just a case of running down the clock. We finish up on Wednesday May 23rd. It will then be out on the lash that night. Recover Thursday and then fly out to Nurmberg on the Friday morning for Brian and Caroline's wedding on the Saturday (for which I'm best man). Back on the Monday, clear out the apartment and then I head to Cork and Claire heads back to Glasgow. On 12Jun07 we will meet in Heathrow before catching our onward flight to Rio. Yeah baby Yeah!!!

First Entry

I've just created this blog and am checking to see if it is going to work. The intention is that while Claire and I are traveling the world we will post entries on this blog to let people know how we are getting on. We will probably still send people personal emails but this site will be where Claire and I will be keeping a comprehensive diary of our experiences.

Flights have been booked. On Tuesday12th of June 2007 we will fly via Heathrow to Rio de Janeiro. We will spend approximately 6 months in South America before flying from Santiago in Chile to Auckland in New Zealand. We will spend another 4-5 months touring NZ and Oz before heading to Asia. Here we will spend 6-8 months, if the money last, travelling though China, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal, Tibet, and India, before heading home. The whole journey will take approx 18months and cost, after flights, somewhere around 50,000 euro.
